IF the elder were paid, how would it change the organization???
by James Mixon inthere would be lot more brothers reaching out that's for sure.....
-

It would not be practical for JWs to pay several elders. The ratio of elders to congregation members is too high to be affordable to the rank and file. However, if a single elder where to be paid he could dedicate himself full time to the congregation while being supported by voluntary ministerial servants. The reason they have so many elders in a congregation except for one is because they all have full time jobs and can only handle a limited portion of the work needed to run it.

An old Kingdom hall now a church?
by HereIgo inhave any of you heard of anything like this.
i remember an ex jw from ohio taking video of a former kingdom hall that is now a church.
apparently the society sold it to the church.

You cannot step into a church without being disfellowshipped but they can sell your kingdom hall to one.
I hope the church's congregation exorcises the demons in the KH.

Jehovah's Witnesses ARE Christians, why do so many ex JW's deny this?
by nicolaou injehovah's witnesses accept jesus as christ, the son of god.
they try, in their own way, to live by his teachings and imitate him.
they pray, read the bible and meet together regularly for worship.. i won't minimise any of the harm and damage they cause but for the life of me, i can't see how anyone can credibly deny that they are christians.. why do so many former jws have a problem with this?

OrphanCrow,
But they don't accept that Jesus is God.
That is the defining difference between JWs and mainstream Christianity
Arians could be Christians regardless of their view that Christ is in submission to God.
Also, one can pick one unique teaching amongst some Christian religions, like Adventists, that is different from "mainstream Christianity". Does that make the unique religion non-Christian? Who gets to define?

Jehovah's Witnesses accept Jesus as Christ, the Son of God.
- They do not accept the doctrine of the ransom as applying to the majority of them (99.9%). It only applies to the anointed.
- They do not believe that it is in Jesus' name that they must be saved.

You might want to get into the cannabis business.

Is Watchtower now loosening the bedroom rules?
by OneGenTwoGroups ini was at my assembly when this was discussed last week.
of course i hadn't prepared and i heard "no rules about limits", or at least i thought i did.. here's the direct quote from the watchtower study article.. "although the bible does not provide specific rules about the kinds and limits of love play that might be associated with natural sexual intimacy, it mentions displays of affection.
the watchtower (study edition) august 2016 : making christian marriage a success, paragraph 8.. what say you?.

Is it the original anointed person or their clone who will be in heaven?
by deegee inthe wt teaches that there's no part of a human being that survives the death of the body.
if the anointed do not have an immortal soul/ some immaterial part of them that survives death, then whoever will be in heaven won't be the original anointed person but their clone since once a person dies, according to wt theology, they cease to exist; so god will have to create a spirit body from nothing for that person and that created body by definition will therefore not be the original person but their clone.. so it will be a person's clone that will get to live forever in heaven and rule with christ, and not the original person.............one can now see why other religions teach the doctrine of the immortality of the soul..

As far as cloning is concerned it doesn't produce a person with your unique memories. Case in point, identical twins.

New, but needed to vent- thank you :-)
by Danni Jackson ini discovered your website this morning as i was trying to find some information about 'marking'.
you see a very close friend of mine was 'marked' earlier this week and as i know the ins and outs of the situation (as we are close friends) i disregarded the talk immediately as i know my friend is obviously having issues but is no way a 'danger' to anybody else's spiritual health.
basically they are dating a non-believer- hence the talk.

Hi there! Welcome.
You can expect more of their "one dimensional" type of thinking. That should be a reason for you to fade out.
